hospital cash plan is available called hospital care an insurance plan underwritten by compass that provides a cash  benefit of £50  for each day you spend in hospital for  up to 30 days after an initial stay of 3 days. Other benefits available with this hospital cash plan include the following. There is an overall benefit limit of £15000 in all per plan year.

£5000  cash lump sum if you suffer one of the following critical illness conditions - Alzheimer’s disease, Aorta graft surgery, benign brain tumour, blindness, cancer, coma, coronary heart by-pass surgery, deafness, heart attack, heart valve replacement or repair, kidney failure, loss of independent existence, loss of limbs, loss of speech,  major organ transplant, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, paralysis, paraplegia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, third degree burns. If protection against contracting a critical illness is your main concern you should consider a critical illness cover policy and compare the cover and cost and bear in mind the hospital care cash plan is a 12 monthly renewable policy.

£10,000 cash benefit per policy plan  year with a £250 excess for each claim for any of the following major surgical procedures which is used toward the cost of these procedures - Aorta graft surgery, benign brain tumour, cancer, coma, coronary artery by-pass surgery, deafness, heart attack, heart valve replacement or repair, kidney failure, loss of limbs, major organ transplant, stroke, third degree burns

£5000 cash benefit payable per plan year towards the following minor surgical  procedures with £100 excess for each claim - Angioplasty, cartilage operation, dental work, ears, eyes, nose, throat, duodenal, peptic or gastric ulcers, gall bladder, hernias, haemorrhoids removal, hip or knee replacement, hysterectomy, kidney stones, prolapsed womb, prostate, slipped disc(s), varicose veins.

£5000 cash sum payable on accidental death.

How to make a claim for the hospital cash plan

Visit your G.P who refers you to a consultant

Call insurers to inform them of a potential claim-receive their approval

Health care navigator will construct your treatment plan and your choice of consultant. You are then free to discuss any concerns you have in complete confidence.

You visit the consultant - who may recommend surgery and you are sent back to your G.P.

You discuss the situation with health care navigator who can arrange for the surgery to be carried out privately, in a hospital which meets your needs, at the best available cost. They will advise you directly of all pre-payments with the consultant and hospital prior to the date of your surgery. ( you will be responsible for paying for the first consultation of an agreed claim and any excesses )

The surgery is carried out at the selected hospital.

Recovery - any additional costs have already been agreed with the insurers.

You receive your hospital discharge papers, which you submit to insurers to receive your additional hospital cash plan benefits.

No pre existing conditions will be covered under this insurance policy.

This plan should not be confused with Income protection insurance , critical illness insurance or private medical insurance and should be considered on its own merits for suitability.

Hospital cash plan benefits should be paid no later than 60 days from the date insurers approve the claim.
